Congratulations to the host club San Clemente Board Riders on the win Saturday, November 5th! The US Board Riders Club Champions defended their home turf and threw up big scores with an incredible club effort and performances!

It was a beautiful day at Churches with waist to shoulder high waves all day, sunny blue skies and nice conditions. It felt like a summer day in November! The water finally cooled down and was hovering just below 60 degrees.

The Newport Beach Board Riders Club, Laguna Beach Surf Club and The Dana Point Surf Club kept it exciting all day, with a highlight of Pat O’s double whammy on a 10! (9.98 close enough) starting a serious rally for Dana Point to apply serious pressure early on. The final scores would leave Newport Beach in 2nd place, just 4.72 points ahead of 3rd place Dana Point.

Laguna Beach fought hard all day and finished strong with 4th place. It was a great season opener for the WCBR South Central Region. The quality of surfing was exceptional in all of the divisions with “8’s” and “9’s” being thrown up throughout the day.

As always the beach was graced with the local surfing royalty; Big Deluxe Nate Yeomans, DaGudauskas Clan, Rosy Hodge, Dino Andino, Eric Diamond, Pat O’Connell, Jeff Booth and the list goes on and on. It was incredible to hear their names as the heat line-ups were being called throughout the day.
